This is just another example of how social media can be used as instruments for social change. Check out CNN’s article “Social Media @ the front line in Egypt.”

Just to update you on the situation, since last Tuesday January 25th, thousands of people in Egypt have been taking the streets in protest of poverty, unemployment, and government corruption, calling for the ousting of President Hosni Mubarak.

What’s also important here is how people in Egypt have been using Twitter and Facebook to mobilize, communicate and keep others updated on the situation…very much like how Twitter was used in the 2009 Iranian Presidential election revolution, nicknamed the “Twitter Revolution.” Here it is happening again today, and it’s gotten to a point where the Egyptian government has been trying to block Twitter and Facebook.
